Fire Update – 07/15/2017

According to Thompson’s Type II Incident Management Team, more firefighters arrived; 455 personnel are now fighting fires in and around Marion Fire District territory. (For definitions of terms used in this report, please, go to our Wildfire Glossary web page.)

Weather Alert:  There is a chance of thunderstorms over the fire today. Some of these storms could produce gusty outflow winds.  A cold front will move through the region Sunday bringing with it the potential for strong gusty winds.

Lazier Creek 3 Fire
1,145 acres, 40% contained, 300 personnel assigned.
Located south of Highway 2 and west of the Thompson River Road. Firefighters are working to improve line on the northwestern perimeter of the fire. Crews in the southeastern portion of the fire will extend hose lays and construct and improve hand lines along the perimeter.

Rogers Mountain Fire
78 acres, 75% contained, 69 personnel assigned.
Located 3 miles Northwest of Happy’s Inn.
Unburned islands of fuels have the potential for continued fire activity.  Firefighters will conduct grid searches and utilize water to cool hot spots that need attention.

Grubb Fire
16 acres, 100 % contained, 16 personnel assigned.
Located north of Pleasant Valley.
With containment complete, this fire will be placed in patrol status and monitored.

NW Meadow Peak Fire
12 acres, 95% contained, 17 personnel assigned

Located northwest of Meadow Peak Lookout.
Firefighters will utilize hose lays, water, and grid searches to complete containment on this fire. The fire will be mopped up 200 feet from the control edge into the burned area.

2645 Fire
4 acres, 90% contained, 15 personnel assigned
.
Located just west of the NW Meadow Peak Fire.
Firefighters will utilize hose lays, water, and grid searches to complete containment on this fire. The fire will be mopped up 200 feet from the control edge into the burned area.

Closures: The Thompson River Road is closed at the junction with Highway 2 south to the 28 mile marker.
