Tamarack Fire

As many of you are now aware, there were new fire starts in the area this past weekend due to a lightening storm on Friday evening (08/11/2017). Crews are actively fighting these fires. The largest fire we have close to us is the Tamarack Fire burning west of Island Lake past the wildlife refuge. Size estimates are currently around 600 acres. Here is a link with most up-to-date information about this fire: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5498/

Some amphibious Canadian aircraft known as Grumman Gooses are assisting fire crews. You may see these planes dunking into Little Bitterroot Lake. Please, stay clear of their operations.

We thank the firefighting crews that are currently working this fire and the assistance from our Canadian friends. We continue to wish safety and progress for our firefighters. We will continue to update you all as we gather more information on these fires.
