Marion Fire District (MFD)’s ambulance service is now licensed to offer Advanced Life Support (ALS) services! This will hopefully improve outcomes for patients in our district who are in dire straits during transport to the hospital. MFD’s volunteer paramedics are licensed to provide cardiac monitoring and defibrillation, IV therapy, and the administration of certain drugs.
If someone in our district requires ALS, the Flathead 911 Emergency Communications Center will automatically dispatch the ALERT helicopter out of Kalispell Regional Medical Center (KRMC). If ALERT is unavailable, MFD’s paramedics will be dispatched. If MFD’s paramedics are unavailable, MFD emergency medical technicians (EMTs) will ask dispatch to call in the nearest available ALS ground ambulance from one of the other fire districts.
