Combination Fire Department

We rely on volunteers, but we are a combination department. We have three paid employees—two part-time firefighter/EMTs and a full-time fire chief—because most of our volunteers work outside the district; they are generally only available during evenings and weekends. Also, several of our volunteers are only around during the summer months, because they are “snowbirds.”

Services Offered

In addition to fire suppression and emergency medical services, our personnel are trained to do rescue operations (such as extraction from crushed vehicles, icy waters, and odd locations requiring technical rope skills). They also respond to hazardous material spills, downed power-lines, and environmental problems.

Community Services

On a fun note, our fire department also provides our community’s children with public education services and hosts fun community get-togethers, such as the annual 4th of July Parade, pancake breakfasts, and Halloween Haunted House.

Volunteers Always Needed

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” ~ Dr. Seuss

We always need people in our community who selflessly step up to serve their neighbors as volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians, as well as in support roles, such as traffic control on the scene of motor vehicle collisions, logistics, and administration. The more people who lend a helping hand, the easier the burden is on the shoulders of the other volunteers. Please, contact us if you would like to know more about helping us with your time and talents.

 Cadet Program

If your family’s young adults are interested in finding out whether they are cut out to be firefighters or EMTs, we will happily put them to work. Even if they decide fire and rescue isn’t what the want, they will gain valuable experience working among the best our community has to offer as mentors and examples-to-emulate.
