Marion Fire District
Fire Update 8/20/2020 — Each fire is 100% contained, but will continue to be patrolled over the next several days. We would like to thank Montana DNRC for their support with both engines and air support to help control these fires quickly. As always, thank you to our community for your continued support! We love the community we serve and...
Early yesterday afternoon (Saturday, August 09, 2020) dispatch alerted Marion Fire to a structure fire on Lower Lost Prairie Road. Unfortunately, the property owners suffered a complete loss of the structure and a vehicle. The fire eventually covered 1.5 acres of property/wildland interface. The fire is 100% contained. We are grateful to DNRC and Fisher River Fire for their assistance...
Our firefighters, as well as DNRC's, handled two small wildland fires on the west side of Little Bitterroot Lake today. The fires were probably human-caused. The fire danger level is currently HIGH. Please, let's all take care to not spark a wildfire. Firefighters working on fire line west of Little Bitterroot Lake on July 27, 2020.
This afternoon our Auxiliary posted the following to their website and Facebook page: We drew winners for our annual raffle at 12 noon today. All winners this year either live in Marion or own property in the Marion Fire District. Kathryn Buckles won the first prize of $1,000. The second prize rifle goes to A.J. King. Sam Nickol won third...
Regretfully, Marion Freedom Day (our community's 4th of July parade-carnival-BBQ that we host) is cancelled. A majority of the Marion Fire District's Board of Directors decided to cancel the event, because of COVID-19. Hopefully, we will be able to host the event next year.
We are looking for volunteers from the community-at-large to help and participate in this year's event on Independence Day. We're especially hopeful to get more participants in the parade that can create/pull a decorated float or drive a classic car. There's a committee meeting tomorrow (5 PM on June 3rd) at the main fire station if you're interested. If you...
We are grateful to Senator Jon Tester for sending the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) a letter to support our department's application for an Assistance to Firefighter's grant. Our department is trying to secure funds to replace an obsolete 1986 water tender that is no longer safe for service and is non-compliant with current firefighting standards. Water tenders are firefighting...
We all recognize it's more a matter of WHEN than IF COVID-19 spreads to our community. Our fire department is working hard to ensure that our volunteers, employees and community are safe during these trying times. The department's volunteers and staff are staying updated on the latest recommended safety practices to protect themselves and their families. Please, be aware that...
The Marion Fire Auxiliary announced 2020's prizes and plans for its annual raffle ticket sales. In the spring they will mail tickets to Marion addresses and to addresses of Marion Fire District's property owners who live outside the district. They also plan on selling tickets during the Lodge at McGregor Lake's fishing tournament coming up February 15-16 and at the...
Two instructors are now offering free yoga classes each Saturday at 9 AM in the Marion Community Center attached to the main fire station (180 Gopher Lane). They are accepting donations to go to the Marion Fire Auxiliary in lieu of payment for their services. We hope to see you there. The instructors ask that you wear comfortable clothing and...
